Over the winter I decided to convert the Holley 7010 780cfm stagger bore carb from reverse idle emissions carb to standard idle system .
So plugged the air bleed in the main veturi's with a 8/32 set screw .
Drilled the main body and throttle base for idle passage.
Angle drilled throttle base .078" for idle discharge.
Replaced main metering block from a holley spread bore ( has accelerator pump passage tube )
Changed IAB from .034" to .070"
Installed a secondary metering block from a 3310-1
Was easy to tune from there.
Went on a mystery cruise on the weekend took us to the Niagara Escarpment here in Southern Ontario Canada. Not what I was expecting, with secondary roads to get there and up and down steep hills including a switch back requiring 10 mph to maneuver it in the Escarpment. So not exactly a highway tour. 42 cars stopping at a stop sign some times. Anyways I got 18.2 miles per imperial gallon . Thats 15.2 mi/gal (US) in a 4000 lb 1975 Monte Carlo 454/500hp 400 turbo trans and 2.73:1 rear axle. I'm sure I can better that on the highway.
