Fuel bowls over filling

some guys get stuck in a rut based on what they did back in the 80's or whenever. for an example see the guys still running HV/HP oil pumps with 20w-50 oil.

Well the .110 needle and seats DID NOT fix the problem. Guess it's time to try some new floats and maybe spring loaded n&s. Love having to do this to brand new carburetors

All four wedge floats have this finish on them. Almost like it was cut after the fact. The floats weight out at 10.3 grams.Any input?

Soak them in gas overnight and reweigh them. The float is porous by nature and a sealer layer protects it. Modifying the shape would require recoating. If you don't need a cutout for jet extensions, brass floats have worked for years.

that's a closed cell material, not supposed to soak up gas at all.

have you tried lowering the fuel pressure a little? how much are you running?

provided the gauge is right it is conservative. Can you put two of those float bumper spring on the float?

Lower the fuel pressure to 5. if you have proper size line and pump, 5 psi is not too low. The bottom feed N&S require less pressure than the std style.
I recall someone on the chevelles.com forum who had similar issues with sideways mounted carbs on a tunnel ram. He went to spring loaded N&S and that took care of the problem.

Tunnel ram motors really shake the carbs around with a rowdy cam. A carb that seals fine on a low manifold can get iffy mounted up high. 6 psi is a lot of flow for 4 needles. Won't be a problem at 4.5 -5 and the needles might seal better.
