I should have included in the above that when I switched from .050” mab and tested with .028” etc mab I mimicked the emulsion of the primary in the secondary metering block. And ‘idle mix screws were never adjusted from best idle in test 1’.

You posted a lot of info, so I can't be sure I absorbed it all correctly.

I'm surprised you found a correlation between the idle and whether the lowest e-bleed was open or plugged. I must be missing something about "The Big Fuel Circuit Picture", as I would have ASSumed that the lowest e-bleed's effect would have been minimal, if anything, in that general RPM range.

Someone's e-jet config I just saw pics of (no measurements, visual only) looked what I'd guess-timate as (top to bottom) .031 / blank / .026 / blank / .020 on a gas 2C carb. That's got me curious about a more extreme reduction in bleed sizes than your .031 / blank / .028 / blank / .025 test w/ same locations set w/ less change in your area while reducing the sizes from top to bottom.

Do you know whether your BG down leg boosters are the .160" or .184" version? From the factory, the "750" and "825" came with .160", but IIRC everything bigger (even basic gas carbs) used the .184" size. That seems pretty big to me for gas, which is why I let my .184" DLs go w/ the black 1.562" sleeves I sold, and kept only the .160"s to use w/ either my 1.425" or 1.500" sleeves.

Good info, thanks. More stuff to keep in mind for the future.

Never ran the .184" boosters in my Gold Claw. I've run it in only 2 cofigs, the 1.425 v w/ .160" downlegs and the 1.562 v w/ BGs screw-in annular boosters.

With the limited amount of time I spent trying to sort out the 1.562 AN combo, it never ran any better on the track and definitely didn't run as clean on the street. I cut loose my 1.562 & 1.590 sleeves, the annular boosters & the .184" downlegs, expecting I'd keep it simple and stick w/ the 1.425 & 1.500 sleeves and the .160" downlegs. Haven't ever tried the 1.500 sleeves, either.

Here's the BG today, with nothing but a fuel bowl change to hard-coated BLP/Braswell "Bat" bowls to shed a little weight and add some fuel slosh baffles not found in the BG or early Holley zinc fuel bowls.

Also, I spent some time w/ the .160" downlegs removing the casting lines on both the exterior of the boosters and inside right above their machined step... cuz I figured it couldn't be doing anything "good" for how they function (especially on the inside where the lines would disrupt airflow just above where the fuel exits the booster).

Oh, I'm interested in seeing if metering block angle channel size makes any difference on Gold Claw, too, since the current BG blocks are still a relatively small .145". I've got a spare set of Holley Ultra 5E blocks that I've opened up to .155" to throw on later. Had actually assembled it with them previously, then thought twice since I want to get a better baseline w/ the .145" blocks if possible before making the switch. Stoopid as it sounds, I like the looks of the black Holley blocks w/ the black billet base plate better.

Another pic of what left the Demon factory. Not surprised if the previous owner had tuning problems. I’d assume if it didn’t leak externally there would at least be internal leaking of the emulsion well.
