Proper float level settings

Hello all, this is my first go around with a sideways mounted tunnel ram application. My carburetors are at a 4 degree downward angle to the rear. They are 4150 carbs with the proper rear angle cut floats. With 6 psi of fuel pressure and the floats turned down considerably, I'm getting fuel almost to the top of the rear sight glasses and just barely showing on the fronts. Should I be setting level off the front sight glass and the rear "is what it is"? The low float setting seems to be in tune with the front site glass, but suprised to see as much fuel in the rear site glass. Even with the 4 degree angle. Thanks in advance

If I am understanding correctly, & to put it another way, the fuel level for the rear jets is higher than it is for the front jets because of the 4* slope.

These venturi type carbs have a spill height of generally 6-10mm. The SH is the difference in height of the discharge nozzle & the fuel level in the bowl.

You have one that has a higher SH & one that is lower; one that will be leaner, the other richer. The main systems will also start at slightly different throttle opening positions.

I think you will have to work around the problem, do not see any way around it with this carb configuration. Maybe go one size leaner with the rear jets, one size richer with the front jets. According to D.Vizard, a change in fuel level of 0.100" is worth about one main jet size.

Might have to make some sideways wedge plates... like, get some sort of solid 1" spacer, and slice it in half with a 4-degree cut... oblong the stud holes some, etc...

Maybe thicker than 1" thick might be needed to create two for the meat slicing operation, lol...

Here's what would need doing using a couple 1" thick open spacers, such as to have them and cut or grind off 4-degrees... I used trig for the approximate lower right linear dimensions...





For purchase instead... research into hard-cornering roundy round racers circles... sometimes they're using sideways wedges for the hard cornering that they do...

I have mine side saddle also.I jack up the rear until the carbs are level and then set the floats to the bottom of the sight holes.The level differance is greater at the side of the bowls then it is at the main wells.
