Awesome. Thanks Mike, great info.

Earlier on I posed the question of big name brand high performance carburetors using the same emulsion package over different cfm rated, or different V/Tb ratio carbs. One exception I know of is the Demon n/a 1.562” x 1.75” with downleg boosters. With these they enlarge the bottom (5th) from .031” to .033”. First, why would they do this with only with this dimensioned carb? Two, which may be answered in the first question, is this richening or leaning fuel when this ebleed is exposed? Air helps lift the fuel to enrichen but at the flow that ebleed is exposed will it be displacing fuel to lean AFR?

Building on those questions above, on average how would a fuel curve look with #1) .031” block, .030”, block .028” top to bottom emulsion compared to a #2) .028” block, .030” block, .031” emulsion package? Consider with no power valve or always open and .028” mab

#1) rich early then flattening?
#2) leaner early becoming increasingly rich?

Part of the problem - as I see it - is you're trying to make sense of a crappy tune to start with. The BG Claw & Demon carbs were notorious for horrible out-of-the-box setups; trying to figure out why IMO is a waste of brain cells.

Some of the questions you're asking are so combination-dependant that the only way to know for sure is to test it yourself. And as Tuner and others have said before, the behavior that results from testing of this type is not necessarily intuitive, if not outright counterintuitive.

I've come to the recent(?) conclusion that the only thing that matters is how any particular combination or setup runs on MY car. Everything else I read about or see should be simply a reference point for my own testing.

The other OPINION that I have now is that carbs that rely on a "lot" of emulsion holes are probably only effective in a relatively narrow operating range. I see multi-circuit metering blocks from something like a Braswell Pro Stock-type carb and have to keep in mind that the engines those are tuned for run at WOT from maybe 9000 to 11000 RPM.

The 1.500 sleeve Demon is a killer piece, I have one. The 1.590 suffers from too sharp of a turn to the venturi, not sure on the 1.56.

Downleg, currently set up for E85. About 30 gallons worth of fuel on a dyno to learn what it liked.
