Boost referencing the power valve for roots blower?

Is boost referencing absolutely necessary in order for the power valve to work correctly? If so, is there an alternative option to doing it that doesn't include drilling and installing a tube in the side of the main body?

Some of the demons had a base plate that did not have the PV Chanel open below the throttle plates but to a port on the side of the base plate. Made it very easy to hook up. Somebody might still be making something like that.

Yes, for a roots style blower it needs to be referenced off the boost side of the blower. Blow thru there are a couple options
