8896 question

My buddy is looking to buy an 8896 for his drag only 489 BBC bracket car. I think I remember that carb having issues at some point, but I can't remember what the problem was. I know this is a 3 circuit carb and he most likely won't want to convert it. Is there a dash something 8896 that's better than another. Thanks for any information.

The early Gen 1 8896 did not have annular boosters. The 9375 did. All later 8896 2nd generation are annular. 9375 are all good too as a basic starting point. 1050 is a good size for many 489-496. Don't think an 1150m would be as good.

Thanks, I was thinking about putting a skirted booster in the 7320 because the boosters in it are the bar type, so it needs boosters anyway. The 9375 that I run has been my most consistent carb since the mid 80's. I keep trying to replace it, but nothing seems to work as well.

8082 is the 2-circuit annular 1050.

Never heard any good reviews of the 2 circuit 8082. Stock metering block metering was goofy?

Does he want a used or new carb?
