8082 list number 1050 dominator old or new were never a very popular carburetor. Part of that is because the public was led by Holley salesmanship to think that Dominators were better because they had 3 circuits. (3 is better than 2, right?) And that may be true for dual carburetor applications. It has been said that 8082 carbs have a bad calibration from the factory. Whether the newer one is better than the original version is questionable, it may be worse.
Either way, modified 2 circuit OEM metering blocks or billet 2 circuit metering blocks, like BLP sells, properly set up and different idle and high speed air bleeds will fix most of the short comings of the 8082, new or old. Custom annular boosters with more, smaller size holes, would be a good idea also. but you need a special tool to do this and a custom carb builder is only one likely to have this.
Hopefully, Mark Whitener will see this and comment.
