Thank you for the conformation. This leanness occurs immediately on opening the throttle. [ opening slowly so as not to obscure with pump shot or overexpose the transfer slot. the engine goes into a lean shutter and will then regain fuel and run fine. If you snap the throttle fast, it will just about die.] I did raise the float level up to 3/4 and that helped. I'm hesitant to go too high as I don't want fuel wash on braking or corning. This is an idle circuit problem as it happens before main circuit activation. This has been a long process as each change which were many entails rewarming resetting idle and test driving for each and every change.
Thanks to this site and to everyone's help.

Are the T/slots in the correct position at idle?

The base plate that I used was off an original Holley 1850. I don't remember the - number. The power brake port exited to the side whereas the Quick Fuel exited straight back I think the base plate you are going to try might be the same the one you're trying to replace. Check the transfer slot dimensions height and width. Also check throttle shaft centerline reference to the bottom of the transfer slot. Good luck.

Please let us know how you make out. Transfer slot measurements, throttle shaft centerline distance to bottom of transfer slot. Compare them to each other. Does the vacuum booster port come out of the rear? How does it run on the Quick Fuel carb?

Where are you connecting the PCV valve then?

I have a 1 inch phenolic spacer that I put a vacuum port in it for the PCV. The PCV port is in the front of the spacer so it is away from the brake port.
