Main Jetting clarification for a 3-to-2 Conversion 8896

Hi Guys,

Going through a NOS 8896 Dominator... has 10-32 shouldered Idle/Intermediate/Main air bleeds... for an apparent 700HP street car with some strip use. I've read the Dominator 2-circuit conversion (and help) Motorsports Village threads, and everything I could find in the old RFS forum, and ballpark safe main jetting really isn't clear... well, mid-to-upper 80's to low-to-upper 90's are referred to... with it's ridiculous 4-"emulsion" 3-circuit blocks and 0.040" MAB's, and depending on which "Numerical Listing" you are looking at it lists with 88 or 90 MJ's primary and secondary jets... and the PVCR's in these blocks (with main well tubes) are 0.081"...

Getting new 4150 blocks for the conversion...
- To remove their main well tubes, block upper dog leg tube bleed holes, open their booster passages to 0.159", add down-low 0.039" IFR's, and 0.028" primary kill bleeds...
- add 0.028" MAB's to carburetor...
- add 0.065" IAB's to carburetor...
- add 0.057-0.063" TSR's to carburetor...

... among all of the information, there's been mention of mid-80's and low-90's to 96 MJ's (square jetting)... but/and anywhere from 0.053" to 0.086" PVCR's (with no main well "emulsion" tubes)...

Ideas/suggestions?...

Mike

No you don't modify the original blocks, you need to replace them with 2 circuit blocks from a 4150 or use billet blocks. 92-93, a little more maybe with pump gas. Start with 28 MAB, .040 idle feed, .059 t-slots restrictions. Idle air bleed can be anywhere from .055 - .075, big blocks on the smaller end, small blocks bigger. And last there are some Dominator bodies that fall outside these ranges on idle/transition calibration, t-slot size and position in the body will make you chase the tunes sometimes. Pay attention to the t-slot position with the blades fully closed, it shout be just at the top to within the closed blades. I've had the with about .040 below the closed blade to .100 above...

I found the following spec chart in my book...

Image

... with power valve, the 1st listed, the 0-4575 (0-8082 similar) 1050, says #84 MJ and 0.0935" PVCR's... I assume that's with main well tubes, where tuner in the past suggested that kind of size PVCR's because of the real estate the tubes take up in the main wells, and, if memory serves through my recent thread searching, 0.082" or 0.086" PVCR's in the scenario where there are no main well tubes...

Though this chart (found online somewhere) shows R8082-2 with 0.037" MAB's... which is the sorta thing that we wanna get away from...
... and from the previous chart's 0-8082, #84 MJ's and 0.0935" PVCR's... (8082-2 also lists #84 MJ's in "Numerical Listing"...)

Image

From chart:
R9375 - 0.025" MAB's... (#92 MJ's)... (PVCR unknown - main well tubes?)
R9375-1 - 0.034" MAB's... (#86 MJ's)... (PVCR unknown - no/main well tubes?)
R9377-1 - 0.028" MAB's... (#92 MJ's)... (PVCR unknown - main well tubes?)

Hence my being somewhat confused... :?

Older and newer "Numerical Listing" PDF file charts show...

9375 - old #92 - new #86.... 0.025" MAB... hmmm...
9375-1 - old #86 - new #86... 0.034" MAB... okay...
9377-1 - old #92 - new #92... 0.028" MAB... okay...

Seems to me... with all four MAB's at 0.028", traditional 2 per barrel 0.028" "e-holes", does #84 PMJ's and 0.086" PVCR's (no main well tubes), and #94 SMJ's sound "safe" rich?...
