I've seen a lot of discussion about plugging the 0.028" upper dog leg bleeds in the 1850 metering blocks (the hole for the missing emulsion tubes in these metering blocks). When you do this, do you drill a kill bleed in the angle channel location? I'm assuming the answer is "yes", but I'd like to learn of the experiences others have had with these before I start filling and drilling. Thanks!

Why would anybody plug the kill bleed?

It's just not entirely clear to me as to whether or not you should drill bleeds in the angle channel if you block the high bleeds.

If I remove an emulsion tube and don’t reinstall it, then yes, I plug the top hole and drill into the angle channel. I figure, why do you need a kill bleed that high with no emulsion tube. Without the tube, that hole cannot be as effective where it is. Just my opinion. But I do this often and the carbs seem to do well on the test engine and no complaints .

Down leg booster needs a kill bleed, either in the angle channel or above. So if you plug the top one after taking out the tube then yes, kill in the angle channel.

FWIW, when I blocked the kill bleeds in the upper channels of my 750/770 MB's I noticed my AFR's were very erratic, once I reopened the KBs the numbers re-stabilized. The 770 uses straight leg boosters. Hope this helps

We’re there emulsion tubes in the blocks? Are you referring to idle afr’s ? Did you have KN’s in the angle channels?
