Tuner has referenced NACA TR 49 in the past: https://www.abbottaerospace.com/downloa ... rburetors/ That's one I've downloaded today after seeing Tuner's recent comments on Speed-Talk.com, so I don't know the contents at this time.

Also, two air bleed / emulsion research papers from Japanese research efforts in the '60s which I've found helpful. I know the first one was also referenced by Tuner in another thread somewhere years ago:

It turns out there is also a "sequel" of sort, although I haven't found a copy that's been translated into English. Even though it's still in Japanese, I have figured out most of - possibly all - the key diagrams, but haven’t documented it anywhere at this point.

I suspect people look at the publication dates of these and jump to the conclusion that they're no longer relevant. However, IIRC, the laws of physics and behavior of air & fluid flow haven't changed with the calendar, only the ease in which the data can be captured and analyzed.

If you are really keen to understand this stuff then you start chasing a deeper understanding of "Combustion" because ultimately that's what we are all really trying to improve with our engines

For me it's not understanding a theory, it's seeing clear examples of testing that validates it.

It's one of those learning by reading about a concept vs learning by results from applying it. People can talk about emulsion bleed size & location from a conceptual perspective and it still doesn't answer the question of what happens to the AFR when I change Bleed A's orifice size and/or add Bleed B lower in the well.

I much prefer to base my decisions by extrapolating from test results of similar conditions than hear: "Well, in theory it should... "

I'm not sure what you mean by theory but those guys did a lot of research and testing to get to the stage where they could write books on the subject.

There is far more applicable information in those books that I have listed to what you are trying to accomplish than you currently realize. It is far better to leverage all the research already done on ICE's and then apply that to your "own" research.
